Life Care Center of Greeley resident wins Christmas card contest

Phyllis Haley, a 94-year-old resident at Life Care Center of Greeley, Colorado, is proud that her artwork is now being sent around the country on the front of hundreds of Christmas cards.

Each year, parent company Life Care Centers of America invites residents in more than 200 nursing and rehab facilities to submit Christmas card designs, and one piece is chosen for each of the organization’s geographical divisions.

Life Care Center of Greeley helps Widhalm recover from West Nile

“Stay motivated, and trust your therapist.”

These are the words that Frank Widhalm shared when asked what helped him get through a trying situation in his life.

On Aug. 29, 2014, Widhalm was mowing lawns and was bitten by a mosquito. Two days later, he fell and was sent to McKee Medical Center. He spent five days at McKee while doctors and staff tried to determine why he had no feeling in his feet and legs.

Rehab patient returns home, thanks to therapy at Life Care Center of Greeley

Ron Gronquist is a testament to the power of a positive attitude. On Jan. 15, 2015, Gronquist was involved in a head-on collision in which he suffered more than 10 broken bones and a traumatic brain injury. Emergency personnel spent more than 30 minutes trying to extract Gronquist from his vehicle, and once they succeeded, he was flown via Life Flight to Northern Colorado Medical Center.

Dr. Keith Thompson named Company-wide Physician of the Year

Dr. Keith Thompson, on-site physician at Life Care Center of Greeley, was named Company-wide Physician of the Year for Life Care Centers of America on March 19.

The award was given during a Life Care ceremony held at the American Medical Directors Association Annual Conference in Louisville, Kentucky. Seven divisional award winners were also honored.
